34 months = time for a change
For the last 34 months I've been working as an IT-consultant / contractor for a big swiss commodity trading company based in the beautiful but much too quiet city of Zug. I learned quite a lot of stuff in the areas of J(2)EE, Spring, Eclipse RCP, Oracle, FX hedging, and other important technologies. It was really fun working in Switzerland but now it is time for a change. I'll try to spend more time working in our German headquarter. I'll also try to reuse some of the lessons learned in the past three years regarding enterprise architectures, JEE and Oracle performance tuning and requirements engineering. By the way: probably the most important lesson I've learned when working as contractor was that it's no good to receive a fixed salary when you actually work as contractor, that gets payed by the customer on a hourly base. So I guess the next time I'll work as a contractor I'll will do this self-employed ;-)
Thanks for the great time to all the colleagues in Zug, to the crew of the hospitable swiss hotel zug and to the Baarer Bier brewery for all the delicious pints of beer I enjoyed in Switzerland.
